The difference is whether or not you endorse your paycheck. What that means really is that US notes are still around, just in the form of Federal Reserve Notes. It is still honored for the $2 and when if ever it hits a bank it will be destroyed as old bills are. However, these days, I just bought a $2 US note for $12.
